Zig Zag rib :)
I know that summer is right around the corner and knitting is not exactly a “summer craft” but this little change, in a traditional rib, got me all excited about picking up needles regardless of the outside temperatures. #craftgeek

I… need to do me some research and learn how to make this stitch!

Daily Sketch! (I’d like to make this a daily thing, except I’m going out of town and won’t have my Wacom or a scanner…) Today’s experiment: Play with Manga Studio coloring tools. Not well, because I don’t know all the tricks and I’m a weak colorist. But there you have it.

I need to sketch more.

I need to sketch more.

This year’s first real snow.

Crow Thoughts. I sketched this in Manga Studio, which I’m finding very helpful for working out ideas. The only problem is that I’m using it in lieu of an actual sketchbook. Ah well.

More hardanger-in-progress!

A giclee Heritage Edition print of the Saint John’s Bible was on display at a local cathedral today and I HAD TO SEE IT. Exquisite modern calligraphy, reviving a centuries-old tradition. The first illuminated Bible to be commissioned in 500 years!

Viewing these six volumes (of a seven-volume set) was a magnificent experience. My three boys were even quiet for an entire half-hour as we looked through them. The artwork is awe-inspiring. (I didn’t even get a picture of the dragonflies. Oh gosh, the dragonflies!)

*wants to do calligraphy forever now, to make all the beautiful things*

The first three steps of Hardanger embroidery. There are many more steps to come!
